Vic Mizzy, who wrote "Addams Family" theme, dies


LOS ANGELES - Vic Mizzy, songwriter, which consists of catchy themes in 1960 Sit-tems "Addams Family" and "Green", has died. He was 93

Mizzy died Friday at home in Bel Air, his manager Jonathan Wolfson said. He said he does not know the cause of death.

He wrote songs that are stored on Dean Martin, Doris Day, Perry Como and Billie Holiday is a '40s and '50s. According to his hits "Pretty Kitty Blue Eyes," "My Dreams are Getting Better All the Time" and "Hi and Hi and Ho-Ho-Ho."

But his most famous work was the theme of "Addams Family," also highlights the tune of finger snaps and cleverly quirky opening words: "They are appalling and they are kooky, mysterious and frightening, they are completely ooky: Addams Family."

Mizzy sang the song himself, and overdubbed three times to give the impression of different vocalists. He has also directed the title sequence, in which he asked the players who were members of the Addams Family is a way to snap your fingers tired.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mizzy learned to play piano as a child. In his teens, he teamed up with Irving Taylor and began writing songs and sketches and variety shows. They won a couple of radio contests and toured the East Coast vaudeville circuit. Although served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, a couple wrote several hit songs such as "Three Little Sisters" and "Take It Easy".

Mizzy later wrote and wrote songs for television and film, the last song, "Spiderman 2", which ended up in the DVD version of the film.

He is survived by a brother, daughter and two grandchildren.
