| | Lesson 10: Clip Art | Cut the Clip Art Clutter Sure, a picture is worth a thousand words, yadda, yadda, yadda. But a picture is worthless if it interferes with the message your document is meant to convey. And to be honest, there's an awful lot of what passes for "clip art" that has very little art about it and deserves to be clipped right off the page. | | Use Less Clip Art Clip art is wonderful, abundant, and fun to use. It can spice up fliers, newsletters, and posters. But you probably realize by now that there's a downside to all that wonderful clip art... Say Cheese! You may have seen the term cheesy applied to clip art, as in "Look at all that cheesy clip art he used." Cheesy is not what you want people calling your clip art choices. But exactly what is cheesy clip art. The dictionary calls cheesy "poor quality, shoddy, inadequate." In terms of clip art we can take it a step further. Any piece of clip art, even it is of good quality, is cheesy if it is overused or used inappropriately. | | | Pages in this Lesson | 1: Clip Art Clutter | 2: Reduce, Unify, Prioritize | 3: Assignment | | Previous 4 Lessons in this Class | Lesson 6: Line Length If this is your first email in the new format, see the sidebar in Lesson 6 and earlier lessons to move back further in the classes if you want to check out the illustrations and assignments. | Lesson 7: All Caps | Lesson 8: Punctuation | Lesson 9: Frames and Boxes | | | | | | Missing a lesson?
