From Jennifer Kyrnin, your Guide to Web Design / HTML
I'm looking for reviews of any online web design related classes you have taken (including the ones on About.com). I would really appreciate it if you could post a review of any online classes you've taken for learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, or other web design topic. Thanks! And speaking of classes, the XML class on About.com has been completely overhauled and updated. If you have been thinking about learning XML, this free online class will take you through the steps for how to do XML. Plus, I have a short tutorial on adding scrolling boxes to your web pages with the CSS overflow properties.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different web editors available for you to use. I have a script to help you find the perfect web page editor, but sometimes it's easier to see reviews of editors by other people and decide based on their opinions. I have received several new web editor reviews from other About.com readers. Some interesting ones that have just come in include:
four stars PSPad
one stars PageBreeze Pro
five stars Wordpad

The XML Class is Newly Refurbished
I am pleased to announce that the free XML class has been completely overhauled and re-written. The entire class is written by the XML Contributing Writer Darla Ferrara, and all lessons are available online as well as by email. The class is currently sent weekly, but if there is interest in a daily version of the XML class, please comment here and I'll set it up. If you're interested in learning XML, this free class is a great resource.

Have you taken any online web design classes?
I have gotten a number of requests lately to know about the best online courses for learning HTML, CSS, and other web design topics. While it is tempting to simply point people at the free classes I offer there are a lot of other options out there - including degree and certification courses from accredited universities. But are they any good? If you have taken any online courses in web design, I would love to know about your experiences! Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

HTML Scrolling is Easy and Fun
Did you know that you can have scroll bars in more than just the right and bottom of the browser window? While there are many ways you can do this, one way is with the overflow CSS property and the CSS 3 properties overflow-x and overflow-y. And of course, if you're feeling really energetic, you can change the scroll bar colors on the scroll bars you add to your page. Learn how to create scrolling HTML text and images.

Poll: Is traffic important to your websites?
It can be easy to get sucked into the idea that the only measure of success for a website is for hundreds of thousands of people to visit it every day. And for sites that are paid for through advertising, this may be the case. But traffic isn't everything. How do you evaluate the success of a website? Personally, I have some sites where I measure success through page views and others through how seldom the owner calls me (if they call, there is a problem with the site). I have also measured success in online sales and in my own satisfaction. How important is website traffic to the sites you build? Vote Now View Results
