Some people think I'm a marketing
genius. Uuuhhh, no. In fact, it usually
takes me awhile to catch on to stuff.

Let's take blogging for example.

John Jantsch helped me to start my own
blog back in 2005.

But it wasn't until this past year that
I really caught onto the blogging craze.

I honestly believe that if you're an
independent professional, business
owners, or professional, you should have
your own blog.

I love to video blog.

In fact, I run 3 awesome video blogs and
I really enjoy working them.

AppreciateLife.com is my personal pet
project. It's kind of a labor of love. I
really enjoy adding to it. In fact, it's
a website that I come back to all the
time myself to watch the videos.

GivingPraise.com is similar to
AppreciateLife.com, but is targeted
toward the Christian community.

http://www.MLMCoachTV.com

MLMCoachTV.com is a blog targeted toward
the network marketing community.

Video blogging is simple, fast and
pretty easy to do.

All you really need is a portable video
camera like your iphone, the Kodak Zi8,
or the Flip MinoHD.

I like the Kodak Zi8 mainly because it
has a mic input.

Sound quality is important and having a
mic dramatically improves the quality of
sound.

You can shoot a quick video, upload it
to youtube with the push of a button and
then embed into your blog in less than 5
minutes.

What Video Content Do You Create?

The best video content for a business
oriented blog is always based on problem
solving.

It's much like writing articles.

Just list as many problems that your
audience struggles with as possible and
those will become the topics of your
videos.

Believe it or not, people are drawn to
problems and will be more interested and
attracted to content that addresses
their problems than just about any other
content you can create.

How to Create a Publishing Schedule

So here's what I do when I'm going to
create a publishing schedule (BTW, you
should definitely create a publishing
schedule!).

STEP 1. Write down the major areas of
your business. (i.e. marketing,
operations, finance, personnel etc.)

STEP 2. Write down sub-areas under each
of these areas of your business. (i.e.
for marketing it might be referrals,
advertising, networking etc...)

STEP 3. Write down a list of problems
you experience in each of the areas.
(i.e. for referrals it might be the fear
of asking, following up, how to ask
etc.)

STEP 4. Write down 3 solutions for each
problem.

VOILA! You have a really good video
blogging publishing schedule!

Now just hook up your mic, flip on your
camera and start shooting!

Don't worry about how you talk, just be
yourself.

But DO wear nice clothes and have a
decent background with some good
lighting (that's the topic of another
newsletter).

I love video blogging and I highly
recommend it as a way to connect with
your audience in a profound way.
