From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
Free is the theme this week. While working on the St. Patrick's Day and Blackletter Font goodies I've been using lots of great free resources such as Photoshop brushes, vector art, and patterns (and of course fonts too). Check the photo captions/credits and the text to learn about some of these great freebies.

Free Advice on Working for Free
Free can be very controversial whether you are on the giving or receiving end. Does you get what you pay for sound familiar? Pro bono is sometimes called the "good" kind of free work while working on spec is a big no-no. But not everyone agrees. Do you? Readers offer their free advice and it's worth a read so you can avoid being caught with an expensive lesson on the cost of free.

Blackletter Fonts
I spent way more time playing around with creating the illustrations than actually looking for the free and commercial fonts to go with this tour of Blackletter. Check 'em out. But also, check out the many faces of Blackletter. It's more versatile than you may have thought.

St. Patrick's Day
Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? I created a bunch of templates and graphics that you can use and rounded up a bunch more from other Guides and elsewhere on the Web. Go green!
