A Brief Thanksgiving Message

* * * My Thanksgiving Message * * *

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the U.S.

This is the time of year that we celebrate
the things we are grateful for in our
lives.

I know most of you have many things to be
thankful for, but there are a few of you
who are struggling right now.

My heart goes out to you.

You might be struggling in your marriage or
your inability to find employment or
perhaps a loved one is very sick.

When I'm struggling, I always remind myself
that there is someone else who has it worse
than me.

I have a friend (I'll call her Mary to
respect her identity) who I visited this
past week.

A few months ago, Mary's son passed away in
a motorcycle accident. It's been
devastating for her as you can imagine.

A couple months later Mary's elderly mother
went missing and she's still not been found
(there have been volunteer search parties
out all over Texas)

As I spoke with Mary during my visit I
wondered in my mind just how much a person
can take before they just give up or break
down.

As I walked into my home and my kids came
up to me with big hugs, a feeling of
gratitude rushed over me.

I thought....

How lucky I am that my kids are healthy.

How lucky I am that I have a loving wife.

How lucky I am that I have a home.

How lucky I am that I'm financially secure.

How lucky I am that I'm actively engaged in
my faith.

How lucky I am that I have good friends and
extended family members that love me.

This year I hope we can all count our
blessings and focus on the things that are
going right in our lives.

I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

David
